From George Onyejiuwa, Owerri
The Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the January 16, 2027 general elections, Mr Peter Obi, has reiterated his unwavering commitment to rescuing Nigeria from its prevailing state of anomie and wastefulness, insisting that a new Nigeria is possible.
Obi stated this in Owerri, the Imo State capital, while speaking at a town hall meeting, last weekend.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of enthusiastic party members, the former Anambra State governor expressed profound gratitude to Ndi Imo for their overwhelming turnout, solidarity, and enthusiastic reception.
He emphasised that the transformation of Nigeria would require a deliberate departure from wasteful governance towards prudent resource management, institutional accountability and strategic investment in critical sectors, particularly education, healthcare and productive enterprise. He further stressed the imperative of transitioning Nigeria from a consumption-dependent economy to a robust, production-driven economy capable of generating employment, stimulating growth, and restoring national prosperity.
