Ahead of the 2027 general elections, political stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Northeast have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-nominating Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

The stakeholders, while commending President Tinubu, described the much-awaited endorsement as a reward for loyalty, competence, and regional inclusiveness.

In a congratulatory message issued by the Coordinating Chairman of the Northeast APC Youth Critical Stakeholders Forum, Comrade Haruna Sardauna, the group said the President’s decision has renewed hope across the region and strengthened confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu-led administration.

The statement, released by the Publicity Secretary of the organization, Hon. Abubakar Babake, described Vice President Kashim Shettima as “the most loyal, dependable, and result-oriented Vice President in the history of Nigeria.” The forum noted that his performance in office has justified the trust reposed in him by the President and the party.

Babake added that Shettima’s re-nomination is not only a personal victory but also a reaffirmation of the strategic importance of the Northeast in the national political equation. “This is about continuity, stability, and rewarding service,” he stated.

The Northeast APC Youth Critical Stakeholders Forum recalled that it was at the forefront of the advocacy that led to the allocation of the Vice Presidential slot to the Northeast Zone during the 2023 elections. The group expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for upholding the zoning arrangement and ensuring continued representation for the region.

“We want to sincerely appreciate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for re-allocating the VP slot to the Northeast Zone for continuity with Vice President Kashim Shettima,” the statement read. “This decision speaks to fairness, equity, and political wisdom.”

Comrade Sardauna, in his remarks, gave assurances on behalf of the region’s youth that the Northeast will deliver the highest votes to the Tinubu/Shettima ticket in the 2027 elections as a mark of appreciation. He emphasized that the youth constitute a decisive voting bloc in the region.

“Our youth make up over 70% of the total registered voters in the Northeast,” Sardauna said. “As the largest constituency, we will mobilize massively to support APC and pay back this act of trust and inclusion. The Northeast will not disappoint Mr. President.”

The forum also highlighted the significance of the VP slot returning to a zone that was heavily affected by the Boko Haram insurgency. Sardauna noted that the intervention of the Tinubu administration through reconstruction programs and security initiatives has begun to restore stability and livelihoods in affected communities.

“The allocation of the Vice Presidency to the Northeast is also a recognition of the resilience of our people,” he said. “With presidential intervention programs for the reconstruction of affected areas and durable solutions to strengthen security and economic development, the zone is witnessing renewed hope.”

According to Sardauna, the Tinubu-led administration has brought a new sense of belonging to the Northeast through infrastructural investment, humanitarian support, and inclusive governance. He said the re-nomination of Shettima consolidates that progress and signals that the President is committed to finishing the work he started.

The Northeast APC Youth Critical Stakeholders Forum concluded by calling on party members, traditional rulers, and civil society groups in the region to unite behind the Tinubu/Shettima ticket. “This is our time to show gratitude with our votes. We are ready, we are mobilized, and we are committed to delivering victory for APC in 2027,” Sardauna declared.
