Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has urged Kogi Central voters to judge political officeholders seeking re-election in 2027 by their records, integrity, and tangible achievements, insisting that public service must be measured by its impact on people’s lives.
The senator, who represents Kogi Central in the National Assembly, said the forthcoming general elections would give constituents an opportunity to assess candidates who had previously occupied elective positions based on their performance in office rather than campaign promises.
In a press statement by her office on Sunday, Akpoti-Uduaghan said voters should demand accountability from politicians seeking another mandate.
“Most of those contesting have held elective positions before,” she said. “So, electorates will have to judge us based on what we have been able to achieve when we had the opportunity to serve.”
She urged the electorate to scrutinise candidates’ records and determine whether their time in public office had translated into meaningful development for their communities.
Highlighting her interventions in Kogi Central, the senator listed road construction, potable water projects, classroom blocks, scholarships, digital learning tools, healthcare facilities, markets for women and solar-powered streetlights among her achievements.
“My stewardship has been framed by a focus on addressing the critical needs of my people,” she said.

Akpoti-Uduaghan said her development agenda for the 2027-2031 period would focus on building on existing projects and extending the benefits of representation to more communities across the district.
“From 2027-2031, I intend to consolidate on the foundation I have laid, and do more to advance my vision of a prosperous, peaceful, and infrastructurally developed Kogi Central,” she said.
According to the statement, a community leader and supporter of the senator, Saidu Bello, who expressed support for Akpoti-Uduaghan, said the impact of her representation should be a major consideration for voters.
“All of Kogi Central knows that Senator Natasha is the only choice. She has been there for only three years and we have felt the impact all around us,” he said.
Similarly, a young entrepreneur, Farouk Lamisi, said young people in the district were increasingly concerned about the performance of their political representatives and the practical benefits of governance.
“Voting for Yahaya Bello is to endorse blatant failure, and we will not do that! We know better now,” Lamisi said.
The emerging political contest has also drawn attention to former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, who has expressed confidence in his chances of unseating Akpoti-Uduaghan in the 2027 Kogi Central senatorial race.
Bello, who governed the state from 2016 to 2024, declared his confidence during an appearance on TVC’s Politics Sunday, saying, “The result will speak for itself.”
Asked about the likely outcome on election day, he predicted a “massive vote” and “decisive victory”, clarifying that he was referring to himself and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
