Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has urged Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Makinde made the call in a video shared on X, where he displayed his PVC and encouraged citizens to participate in the electoral process regardless of their preferred candidate.
He said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed October 9, 2026, for the commencement of nationwide PVC collection.
“Fellow Nigerians, INEC has set October 9th as the date for people to start collecting their Permanent Voters Card,” Makinde said.
“This is your power, irrespective of who you want to vote for. Please go out, collect your PVC and you will use it wisely in the 2027 election cycle.”

The governor’s appeal comes as INEC prepares to distribute newly produced PVCs to eligible voters at collection centres across the country.
INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, previously announced that the collection exercise would begin on October 9 following the completion of the latest Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
The commission said more than 10.7 million new registrations were recorded during the three phases of the exercise, pushing the national register of voters above 103 million.
INEC said the PVC collection will cover eligible citizens who recently registered, transferred their voting locations or require replacement cards.
Makinde’s call comes ahead of the 2027 elections, urging Nigerians to obtain their voter cards and exercise their constitutional right to choose their leaders.
