Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial candidate for Abia North District, Hon Uko Nkole, has accused the Labour Party of being a willing tool in the hands of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to diminish the presidential bid of NDC candidate, Mr. Peter Obi ahead of 2027.
Hon Nkole who made the accusation at his country home, Abam, in Arochukwu Local Government Area while briefing newsmen, said apart from LP not fielding any visible presidential candidate for the 2027 polls, it has gone further to continue to tell Nigerians that Obi is still in Labour Party, instead of NDC.
He said it was unfortunate that those who benefitted from Obi’s popularity in 2023 and got elected into various political offices have turned around to betray the former Anambra State governor.
He told the electorate that any vote they cast for LP is but for President Bola Tinubu not for Obi as he has left the party for NDC.
Nkole expressed confidence that the Obi wave which gained momentum in 2023 that defied political calculations and logic, would be tripled in 2027, since those things that triggered it then have been made worse.
“Why will the Obi-wave of 2023 not triple in 2027? Those things that triggered the wave, the economic hardship and the rest of them have tripled, so, the wave will even come harder.”
On his chances of winning the Senate seat, Nkole said the Senate is not the ground for experimentation, but for tested and experienced hands that would transform into quality representation.
The two-term House of Representatives member for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency took a swipe at Chief David Ogba (aka Bourdex) the Labour Party (LP) Abia North Senatorial candidate who he said was a Local Government Transition Committee (TC) chairman, but failed woefully.
Highlighting some of the unpopular decisions Bourdex took when he was TC Chairman, Nkole queried: “If Bourdex could not perform at the level of local government chairman, what would he do in the Senate?”
“The Senate is not an experimentation chamber. Bourdex has not got the experience to be at the National Assembly, not even when he failed woefully as a local government chairman.
“When he was the TC Chairman for Ohafia, I know over N10bn accrued to the council as revenue. What did he do with the money? There is no single landmark project he executed with the money.”
Speaking about the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Senator representing Abia North, Nkole said, “I’m aware of the popularity of Orji Uzor Kalu, he is my leader, but I know he will be praying I win the election and be like him or even better than him.”
He reeled out some of the things he attracted during his eight years in the House of Representatives and promised to do more if he is elected into the Senate.
