Wife of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ogechi Lokpobiri, has called on Nigerian women and health professionals to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.
Lokpobiri, who is the National Coordinator of the Tinubu Health Sector Practitioners Alliance (TIHSEPA), made the call on Friday in Abuja, urging Nigerians to support the administration’s reform agenda.
She said the reforms, despite the short-term challenges they had created for citizens, were aimed at addressing longstanding structural problems and laying the foundation for sustainable economic development.
According to her, the policies were beginning to reshape critical sectors of the economy and could position Nigeria for greater relevance in the international community.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to take difficult decisions in the interest of the country. While reforms may come with challenges, we must also look at their broader objectives and the opportunities they are creating for a stronger and more sustainable Nigeria,” she said.
Lokpobiri urged women across the country to mobilise peacefully in support of the administration, describing them as a major force in shaping the nation’s political and development agenda.
She said women should actively participate in national affairs and support programmes they believe would improve healthcare delivery, strengthen social welfare, empower families and create economic opportunities.
“Women cannot afford to remain on the sidelines. We have a responsibility to participate actively in the affairs of our country and to support policies and programmes that we believe will advance the wellbeing of our families and communities,” she added.
The TIHSEPA coordinator also praised the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, describing her as an “Icon of Impact” for her interventions targeting women, children and other vulnerable groups.
She specifically commended the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, which she said had complemented the Federal Government’s efforts in social welfare, healthcare, education and economic empowerment.
According to her, the First Lady’s advocacy for women and families underscores the importance of inclusive leadership and improved welfare for vulnerable Nigerians.
Lokpobiri further called on health professionals to contribute their expertise to national development, stressing that an effective healthcare system was essential for productivity, economic growth and improved living standards.
She said TIHSEPA would continue to mobilise practitioners and other stakeholders to support initiatives aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system and advancing citizens’ wellbeing.
She also urged Nigerians to sustain national unity and give the Tinubu administration the opportunity to consolidate its policies and programmes.
Lokpobiri expressed optimism that sustained implementation of the Federal Government’s reform agenda would create more opportunities for citizens and strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global community.
