The Kwankwasiyya-Shekarau Unity Forum has announced its support for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf during a visit to the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya.

They rebranded their name to ‘Abba Gida-Gida – Shekarau Unity Forum.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Ahmed Saminu (DOC), disclosed that the Forum was formed following the merger of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structures in 2023 to ensure the victory of the party.

He said: “Even when our leader, Mal Ibrahim Shekarau left the party, we remained in Kwankwasiyya. Unfortunately, our members were denied the privilege to enjoy the benefits of the sacrifice they made for the success of the movement until now that the Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has brought us closer to the Government and made us relevant. That is why we are here today to declare our total support for Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf and to change the name of our Forum to “Abba Gida-Gida – Shekarau Unity Forum.”

Alhaji Ahmed Saminu stated that the Forum believes Governor Yusuf deserves total support to continue with the remarkable achievements he has recorded since he assumed office, which have made the state more attractive and conducive for living.

He commended the Governor for the successes recorded so far in the areas of education, health, security, youth and women empowerment, road construction, and provision of infrastructure, among others. He further noted that these achievements inspired them to declare their loyalty to the Governor through the Commissioner, who has continued to motivate people on the good policies of this  administration.

Responding, Waiya thanked the members of the group for being active politicians with a clear vision in choosing what is right for the state.

He said their decision to support Yusuf for a second term demonstrates their concern for the development of Kano State.

He described the Governor as a leader who knows what is right and is always ready to ensure that the people of Kano enjoy the dividends of democracy.

“All that the enemies of the state are saying about the Governor will never distract him from his determination to provide the good leadership needed in Kano,” he stated.

He assured the Forum of the administration’s commitment to work closely with them to ensure victory in the 2027 general elections.
