Kenneth Okonkwo, a lawyer and politician, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to rig the upcoming 2027 elections using state institutions.

Okonkwo made the allegation during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’ on Tuesday.

He was reacting to the APC-led Federal Government’s demand that opposition political parties to submit digitalised registers within a limited period of time.

He said that before recessing in December, the National Assembly came to the conclusion that electronic transmission of results is guaranteed.

Okonkwo, however, decried that after returning, allegedly due to a call from President Bola Tinubu, the lawmakers dismantled the electronic transmission of election results within a week and instead introduced demonic sections that subvert democracy.

“What the APC is doing is trying to use state institutions to rig the 2027 elections before they happen.

“How can this government demand opposition parties submit digitalised registers within 2 months? Amendments should cure mischief, but APC’s aim is to create it.

“Going forward, it will require the collective effort of all Nigerians to combat disenchantments, address grievances and restore faith in electoral democracy,” he said.
