The JAGABA/KAURA Students’ Mandate 2027, Kebbi State Chapter, has launched a fresh mobilisation drive for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris, inaugurating campus ambassadors across tertiary institutions in the state.

The initiative is aimed at rallying students behind the two leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections, with emphasis on their achievements in education, youth empowerment and human-capital development.

Kebbi State Coordinator of the movement, Comrade Faisal Abdullahi, said the decision to establish campus ambassadors was informed by the importance of students as critical stakeholders in governance and national development.

He said the ambassadors would serve as the movement’s representatives in their respective institutions, mobilising students, organising campus engagements and promoting government policies and programmes.

Abdullahi identified interventions by the Tinubu administration, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme and support for tertiary education through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), as evidence of the Federal Government’s commitment to young Nigerians.

He said NELFUND had provided opportunities for students to access financial support for tuition and upkeep, while the TVET programme was equipping young people with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

The group also commended the Federal Government’s engagement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), noting that improved funding, research and staff welfare were critical to strengthening the university system.

At the state level, the movement praised Governor Idris for his administration’s investment in education, particularly free education and scholarship programmes for eligible Kebbi students.

It also highlighted the recruitment of teachers, renovation and rehabilitation of schools, provision of learning materials, payment of public examination fees and construction of mega-schools incorporating academic and vocational training.

The group further identified the extension of teachers’ retirement age to 65 years and service period to 40 years as part of measures to improve teachers’ welfare and retain experienced personnel.

It said the administration’s vocational training, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and women empowerment programmes were also creating opportunities for economic advancement.

Abdullahi said the movement would continue to engage students and mobilise support for the second term bids of Tinubu and Idris, insisting that young people should recognise and support policies that improve their future.

“The future of Kebbi State depends significantly on the quality of education and opportunities available to its young people. Students must therefore be active participants in conversations about governance, development and the future of our state.

“Our Campus Ambassadors initiative is intended to strengthen that engagement and ensure that students have access to information about policies and programmes that affect their lives,” he said.

He called on students across the state to support the re-election of the President and governor in 2027, describing continuity in their administrations as important to sustaining development.
