The All Progressives Congress (APC) has changed the running mate of Kebbi state Governor, Dr Nasir Idris ahead of 2027 general elections with the former Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Ibrahim Augie.
Augie,who is also from Argungu Emirate,replaced the incumbent Deputy Governor,Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida who will finished a single term with Governor Idris.
The replacement was confirmed by Governor Idris himself during a meeting with stakeholders from Argungu Emirate on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi.
Speaking with newsmen after the meeting, Governor Idris disclosed that they arrived at the decision with the approval of the incumbent Deputy Governor and the party leaders.
According to him, “So, we met,we have discussed with my Deputy Governor and his people and we all agreed. We even gave him the benefit of doubt to choose anybody of his choice to replace him when the time comes.
“And he has chosen one of his brothers and I accepted him in good faith. Therefore, there is no cause for alarm. All the people here today are from the Deputy Governor areas and they have accepted also what the Deputy Governor and party did.
“So, I have no problem. I am. A labour leader and I can work with anybody. The person they brought is a former Commissioner of Finance. He is a good man, very discipline person and I know him in and out. So, I don’t have any problem “, he said.
The meeting was attended by the National Organizing Secretary of APC and Party’s leaders from Argungu Emirate.
