The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kano State chapter, has rejected the idea of endorsing any other candidate outside the party’s presidential flag-bearer in 2027.
Addressing the media, the party condemned the situation in Osun State in which the government and the state party leadership endorsed the president and APC candidate, Bola Tinubu, ahead of 2027 polls.
The state party chairman, Yusuf Ado Kibya, who spoke at the end of the leadership meeting of the party at the state capital, also distanced the state PDP from the party’s breakaway members, who had left to form a political coalition under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He explained that the coalition does not represent their interest and urged members to remain focused on the party’s objectives and be vigilant against being misguided or misled.

“We categorically reject any attempt to undermine or divide our party. We affirm that all members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kano State are solidly committed to the party and its ideals.”
Kibya stressed that only an insignificant number of party members in the state had exited for the coalition but assured that their number was too small to affect the fortunes of the party in the years ahead.
He added that the membership of the party in the state was intact, noting that they were resolute in supporting the PDP’s mission and vision for a better Nigeria.
“We emphasise the importance of registering with the PDP as the best option for the future Kano State and Nigeria. We believe that our party is the vehicle for positive change and we encourage all the citizens of Nigeria to join us in this journey,” he stated.
