The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will hold a world press conference and national stakeholders’ meeting on Tuesday, October 6, as the countdown to the 2027 general elections reaches 100 days.

The announcement was contained in a press release signed by INEC Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the Chairman, Adedayo Oketola, yesterday, October 4, and made available to Daily Sun.

The commission said the meeting would provide updates on preparations for the elections, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures being taken to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, will address the press alongside other key stakeholders involved in the electoral process.

The commission said the national stakeholders’ meeting underscored its commitment to transparency, proactive communication and engagement with key actors across the electoral system.

Political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), members of the diplomatic corps and development partners are expected at the meeting.

Civil society organisations, election observer groups, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives will also participate.

The event will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC), Abuja, from 10am, with guests expected to be seated by the scheduled start time.

INEC said attendance would be strictly by invitation, while accredited media representatives and invited guests would be required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.

The commission said the event would be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on its official social media platforms.

The briefing comes as INEC intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections, with the commission expected to provide stakeholders with further information on its readiness and key areas requiring public attention.
