The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reinstated four State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states ahead of the 2027 general election.
The move follows court judgments directing the electoral commission to restore the constituencies that had previously been suppressed.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.
The three restored constituencies in Delta are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II, while Yagba West II has been restored in Kogi State.
The commission said political parties will hold primaries for candidates seeking to contest the restored seats from August 21 to 25, 2026.
INEC explained that the exercise falls within the same period scheduled for primaries ahead of other forthcoming bye-elections across the country.
Elections for the affected constituencies have been scheduled for September 19, 2026.
The commission directed political parties intending to conduct primaries for the restored constituencies to submit the required notices before their respective dates.
INEC added that all other activities and deadlines contained in its previously released timetable for the 2027 general election would remain applicable to the restored constituencies.
The electoral body reaffirmed its commitment to conducting elections that are credible, transparent and inclusive.
