Media Entrepreneur and former Majority Leader of Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Uche Ogbuagu, has emerged as the flag bearer of the party for the Mbaitoli/ Ikeduru federal constituency of Imo State for the 2027 National Assembly polls.

Hon. Ogbuagu in 2023 had contested the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru federal constituency seat under the Labour Party, but lost to the incumbent, Hon. Akarachi Amadi, of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Others who emerged from the House of  Representatives primaries of the party held across the 10 federal constituencies in the state are: Chief Samuel Onye -Okigwe North Federal constituency, Mr Ikenna Emeruem -Okigwe South federal constituency; Chief Joseph Chukwuma Ikunna -Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru west federal constituency.

Barr. Amby Emeh —Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency; Chief Owuzuruike Banabas Chijioke —Orlu/Orsu/Oru East Federal Constituency, and Hon. Arthur Ugochukwu —Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency.

The list also includes three women —Iheme Ndidi Olachi Ulumma, Nwadike Peace Adanna, and Princess Oleka-Chinedu — seeking to represent Owerri Federal Constituency, Nkwere/Isu/Nwangele/Njaba Federal Constituency, and Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency, respectively.

The state Publicity Secretary of Imo PDP, Hon. Lancelot Obiaku, said the emergence of three women as flag-bearers of the party is an eloquent demonstration of the party’s commitment to the constitutional 35 percent affirmative action policy.

“This demonstrates Imo PDP’s profound commitment to adhering to the party’s constitutional 35% affirmative action policy for women in both elective and appointive political positions under the efficient leadership of the state Chairman, Rt. Hon. Austine Nwachukwu.

“We have confidence in the ability of these men and women to give a good account of themselves and secure victories at the polls, given their impeccable character, experience, and proven competence.

“Therefore, we urge leaders and members of the party who chose them as candidates to rally strongly behind them as the party massively mobilises support ahead of the 2027 general elections”, Obiaku said.
