Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi may have given an insight into his role in the 2027 general election, disclosing he would be contesting the coming election as ‘number one.’
He spoke while addressing supporters ahead of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election in the Federal Capital Territory.
Obi vied for the 2023 presidency on the Labour Party (LP) platform, emerging third overall.

In December 2025, he defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where his teeming supporters popularly known as ‘Obidients’ have urged him to only pursue the presidential ticket.
This is as some political observers have encouraged the former Anambra governor to be open to picking the vice-presidential ticket in the interest of party cohesion for electoral success.
