Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has promised members of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), that he would not impose candidates in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

Idris stated this when he received executive members of APC from Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area during a visit at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

“I will never impose any candidate on any community, you have the mandate to choose those who will represent you. Anybody that is not useful to people you should not elect him/her into any position. Before you elect somebody, you must find out what did he/she do for the people?” he advised.

Idris noted that his administration had fulfilled about 80 percent of his campaign promises in less than three years, saying: “as a government, we are trying to deliver all our campaign promises.”

While reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of all, especially workers, he expressed delight that his administration was not owing any worker pension, gratuity, death benefit or salary.

“In Kebbi, we don’t owe anybody pension, gratuity, death benefit or salary. In a similar vein, we have not forgotten our traditional rulers. We renovated their palaces, replaced their vehicles and ensured routine medical check ups.”

The governor promised to sustain the distribution of free fertilisers, chemicals, power tillers, pumping machines, among other inputs to farmers across the state.

Idris tasked the officials to encourage the party members to endeavour to obtain their e-registration cards as it was the only weapon to be used in electing credible candidates of their choice.

Alhaji Sani Bello, Chairman, APC Birnin Kebbi LG thanked the governor for prioritising public welfare.

“It’s one of your manifestos that you will prioritise public welfare, we are very happy that you have fulfilled your promise. Your welfarism is glaring, you have supplied fertilisers, tiler pumping machines, foodstuff and many more to the farmers and the general public free’”
