The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), the apex sociopolitical youth group in the South East geopolitical zone, has vowed to stop any form of rigging in the zone in the 2027 general election.

President General of the Igbo youth group, Goodluck Ibem, made the disclosure in a statement in Owerri, yesterday.

He said, “We, hereby, send a clear, firm, and uncompromising message to all political actors, institutions, and stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections. The people of the South East will not tolerate any form of electoral rigging, manipulation, or subversion of their democratic will.

“We state, unequivocally, that any attempt by any individual, political party, or institution to tamper with the electoral process will be met with lawful, collective, and resolute resistance by the people.

“The era where votes are stolen and mandates imposed against the will of the people is over. Our people are politically conscious, vigilant, and prepared to defend their votes within the ambit of the law. In 2027, performance, not propaganda, will determine electoral outcomes.

“Only leaders who have demonstrated credible performance, accountability, and genuine commitment to the welfare of the people will earn the mandate to lead. Those who have used public office to oppress, neglect, or exploit the people must prepare to be voted out decisively.

“We call on all eligible citizens across the South East to rise to their civic responsibility by ensuring they obtain and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). The PVC is not just a card; it is the most powerful tool for shaping our future and securing accountable leadership.

“We further urge the electorate to remain peaceful, vigilant, and united before, during, and after the elections, while rejecting any inducement, intimidation, or attempt to compromise their vote.

“Let it be known: power resides with the people. That is the true essence of democracy, and we will defend it.

“COSEYL remains committed to promoting credible elections, good governance, and the collective interest of our people” Ibem stated.
