The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has commended the performance of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North in the National Assembly, describing his leadership as the best since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.
In a statement yesterday by its President-General, Goodluck Ibem, and Publicity Secretary, Okey Nwaoru, the group praised the former Abia State Governor’s achievements, vowing to stand firmly behind him despite what it described as “unwarranted attacks” from certain quarters.
According to COSEYL, Kalu’s representation has brought transformation to Abia North through quality legislation, impactful projects and direct empowerment of constituents.
“It is evident that these attacks are fuelled by one underlying truth, which is that he is the face of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is poised to lead the party to victory in the upcoming 2027 elections,” the statement read.
The group added that his commitment to public service, infrastructural development, and grassroots empowerment has positioned him as a beacon of hope for the South East.

“As he gears up for the 2027 elections, he does so with an even greater sense of purpose and preparedness than in 2023. Under his leadership, we confidently predict an overwhelming 95 percent support for the APC in the forthcoming elections,” the statement added.
COSEYL further described Kalu as the best-performing senator from the zone since 1999, citing his accessibility, passion for service, and consistency in delivering people-oriented projects.
The youth leaders also expressed optimism that voters in Abia North would not only rally behind Kalu but also support President Tinubu in 2027, noting what they called the synergy and transformative power of their leadership.
They dismissed criticisms against the lawmaker as “desperate attempts to undermine a proven leader,” urging youths and citizens in the zone to unite in support of him.
“Abia North deserves continued progress, and this can only be guaranteed through continuity of proven, results-oriented leadership. We, at COSEYL, affirm that 2027 is a done deal. The good people of Abia North are ready to show their appreciation for the dynamic performance of Senator Kalu,” the statement concluded.
