A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Dr Olusola Ayandele, has dismissed claims of the Allied Peoples Movement’s (APM) political dominance in Ibarapa.

He insisted that the APC would win the zone with massive votes in the 2027 elections.

Ayandele made the disclosure in his response to a statement credited to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters in the state, Mr. Ademola Ojo, popularly known as Ijaya, that the APM controls Ibarapa politically.

Describing the claim as a political illusion, he said Ojo had overestimated his party’s grassroots support.

He stressed that the elections would expose the difference between political propaganda and genuine electoral strength.

He expressed confidence that Ibarapa residents would vote massively for the APC and its candidates, arguing that voters were becoming more politically conscious and less susceptible to exaggerated claims of popularity.

“Ojo is simply living in an illusion that he has political strength in Ibarapa which he does not have. The era when politicians could deceive the people with empty propaganda and manufactured political structures is gone,” Ayandele said.

He described his recent mobilisation efforts, alongside other APC stakeholders and supporters, as evidence of the party’s growing acceptance across Ibarapa, rather than a political display staged in Ibadan, the state capital.

He added that more political stakeholders and supporters were identifying with the APC, expressing confidence that the development would translate into massive votes in 2027.

Ayandele challenged Ojo and the APM leadership to stop taking Ibarapa residents for granted, stressing that political strength should be measured by votes secured at polling units, not claims made at political gatherings.

He urged APC members and supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation, as he expressed confidence that the party would defeat the APM and other opposition parties.

Ayandele said the APC has been campaigning on a platform of renewed hope, development and inclusive governance. He expressed confidence that voters would support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, as well as the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, and other APC candidates in 2027.
