2027: I think about Tinubu’s re-election even when sleeping – Wike

Nyesom Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 occupies his thoughts even when he is asleep or eating.

Wike made the remark on Monday while addressing town hall meetings with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, as he intensified his mobilisation for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The former Rivers State governor urged residents to support Tinubu with their votes, saying the President had recognised the state through appointments and what he described as dividends of democracy.

“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s re-election. When I am eating, I think about the president’s re-election. Everything I am doing now is about the president’s re-election,” Wike said.

He expressed confidence that Tinubu would have an easier route to victory in Rivers in 2027 than he did in 2023, urging residents to set aside political sentiments and support the President.

“I know the re-election of Tinubu in 2027 will be easier than that of 2023. We should appreciate Tinubu and ensure he gets a massive number of votes. We can do it,” he said.

Wike also attacked former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, who are associated with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing them of deceiving Nigerians.

The FCT minister claimed that Atiku and Amaechi lacked the political credibility to challenge Tinubu and further predicted that the ADC would not secure the required 25 per cent of votes in Rivers State. His assessment was not independently established in the report.

He also dismissed Peter Obi and other opposition presidential candidates as “unelectable politicians”, while urging his supporters and political allies to remain focused despite internal disputes and disagreements within the state.

Wike has recently intensified his campaign for Tinubu in Rivers, including a pledge to resign as FCT minister if the President loses both Rivers State and the FCT in the 2027 presidential election.
