An Igbo socio-political group, the Igbo Oriental Think Tank, has cautioned Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, over alleged threats to local government chairmen and councillors to deliver their areas for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 governorship election.
The group alleged that some council chairmen and councillors were being threatened with removal from office if they failed to deliver their respective local government areas for the APC in the 2027 election.
Executive Secretary of the group, Dr Kenneth Anozie, who raised the alarm in a statement, yesterday, said the alleged pressure on elected council officials could worsen the administration’s political fortunes rather than guarantee victory for the ruling party.
Anozie also alleged that the Nwifuru administration had appointed about 4,000 Special Assistants as part of its political mobilisation ahead of the election.
Despite the alleged mobilisation, however, the political strategist claimed that the mood in the state was shifting against the APC, with more residents allegedly gravitating towards the opposition.

He said the growing popularity of Anyichuks Odii was already being felt in several parts of Ebonyi, including Afikpo, Ezza and Onueke.
“Anyichuks ka anyi na eso,” Anozie said, claiming that the slogan was gaining traction among residents and describing Odii as a major political force in the emerging 2027 contest.
He further accused the Nwifuru administration of failing to meet the expectations of Ebonyi residents, many of whom, he claimed, were preparing to use the 2027 ballot to express their dissatisfaction with the government.
The political strategist also alleged that the APC had become a source of hardship for sections of the population, insisting that voters were increasingly looking towards alternative political platforms.
He described the emerging political development as the “swansong” of the APC in Ebonyi State.
