2027: Group lauds Yayi’s choice by Ogun APC

A pressure group, the Renaissance Movement (RM), has thrown its weight behind the choice of Senator Solomon Adeola AKA “Yayi” as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the Ogun State Chapter Of the Party, describing the choice as a political master stroke.

In a statement signed by its Convener, Prince Remi Adefulu, the group stated that it was not surprised by the decision in view of the intimidating credentials of the Ogun West Senator. According to Prince Adefulu, while Ogun State is fortunate to have quality men and women from diverse backgrounds aspiring for the number one seat in 2027, the group is highly delighted that the best the state has to offer in the person of senator Adeola has been unanimously chosen to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun.

“At the level of the Renaissance Movement, which comprises professionals from diverse fields, the group is highly delighted about the decision of Ogun APC to put forward Senator Adeola as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general election has resolved to throw its weight behind Senator Adeola. This decision was taken after many months of diligent appraisal of the personality, capacity, and competence of the aspirants. Undauntedly, the group maintains that many factors place Senator Adeola above others in terms of experience, track record, performance, character and much more.

“In terms of pedigree, there is no doubt that Senator Adeola ranks is the best senator to have represented Ogun West since 1999. On the floor of the Nigerian Senate, he has been an assertive voice for the people of Ogun State, providing a level of advocacy that has never been matched by previous representatives.

“In the process, he has brought unparalleled development to his constituency, which has resulted in the upgrading of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, to a university, alongside major infrastructure projects, support for vocational education, scholarship programs, and poverty alleviation initiatives, among others. Although representing Ogun West, Senator Adeola’s footprints are visible in all parts of Ogun State.

“A party man to the core, he has enriched the fortunes of the APC in Ogun State and beyond and has built an uncommon bond with the state governor, party leaders, members, and other stakeholders both within and outside the state. No doubt, Yayi remains an invaluable asset to Ogun State, and he is the man Ogun State needs at a moment like this to raise the bar of good governance for the benefit of the people.”
