The Grassroots Mobilization Initiative (GMI) has applauded contestants, party faithful and organizers involved in the recently concluded political primaries across the country, describing the exercise as a major boost for Nigeria’s democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group particularly hailed the adoption of the Option A4 voting model, saying the process brought transparency, accountability and orderliness to the primaries.
In a statement by its National Coordinator, Samaila Musa, the organization praised the peaceful conduct of the exercise and the massive turnout of grassroots voters across the states.
Musa said the orderly participation of Nigerians reflected growing civic consciousness and a determination by citizens to take active part in deciding the country’s future leadership.
“As a non-partisan organization committed to grassroots democracy and good governance, GMI believes in commending political maturity, transparency and exemplary leadership wherever it is demonstrated,” he said.
He noted that the calm atmosphere and transparent voting process recorded during the primaries showed that Nigerians were eager for credible democratic processes.

“The orderliness, transparency and peace witnessed at voting centres prove that when citizens are given direct participation in leadership selection, democracy thrives,” Musa stated.
The organization also congratulated candidates who emerged victorious in the State Assembly, National Assembly, governorship and presidential primaries.
According to GMI, State Assembly candidates remain critical to grassroots legislation and community development, while National Assembly candidates carry the responsibility of shaping national policies.
The group added that governorship candidates must drive development in their respective states, while presidential candidates are expected to provide national direction and unity.
Musa reminded successful aspirants that their emergence was beyond political victory, stressing that it represented a social contract with Nigerians.
“GMI reminds all successful candidates that their victory is a mandate to deliver equity, excellence and genuine dividends of democracy to the people,” he added.
The organization further said it would continue nationwide voter education and civic mobilization ahead of the 2027 polls to ensure peaceful participation and the emergence of credible leaders.
It also urged aspirants who lost in the primaries to embrace sportsmanship and continue contributing to national peace and democratic growth.
