The All Progressives Congress (APC) has received a major grassroots mobilisation boost in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as the FCT Abuja Youth Participation Action Community (FAYPAC) pledged to mobilise at least 300,000 votes for the party in the 2027 general elections.
The group said it would achieve the target through an extensive network of youth coordinators and political mobilisation structures across the six area councils, 62 wards and more than 2,500 polling units in the territory.
According to a press statement issued by FAYPAC’s convener, Ambassador Ayuba Ngbako, the organisation was established to bridge the gap between young people and the political process, particularly the mobilisation of residents aged between 18 and 45.
“We have a large population of young people in the FCT, but many of them have not been adequately integrated into the political mobilisation structure.
“FAYPAC is designed to bring these young people together, give them a platform for participation and mobilise them to take an active role in the political process,” Ngbako said.
The group, which unveiled a 23-member FCT steering committee to coordinate its activities, said the initiative would be driven by a grassroots structure extending from the territory-wide leadership to area councils, wards and polling units.
Ngbako said the committee was constituted to ensure effective coordination of the mobilisation drive across the FCT.
“The 23-member steering committee is expected to provide the leadership and coordination required to achieve our objectives.
“We have representatives from the six area councils, as well as coordinators for the six geopolitical zones, to ensure that the various communities and interests within the FCT are adequately represented,” he said.
The committee comprises six area council coordinators representing Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali and Abaji, alongside six geopolitical zone coordinators representing the North-Central, North-East, North-West, South-East, South-West and South-South communities residing in the territory.

The remaining 11 members include the women leader, youth leader, organising secretary, publicity secretary, legal adviser and elders, among other officials.
On its proposed grassroots structure, Ngbako said FAYPAC would establish a minimum of 17 steering or executive committee members in each area council, while three representatives would be assigned to every polling unit across the wards.
“We are taking the mobilisation to the grassroots because that is where elections are won.
“Our plan is to have a functional structure in every area council, every ward and every polling unit, so that we can effectively reach the people and coordinate their participation,” he said.
On the electoral target, the convener said the group was projecting a minimum of 50,000 votes for the APC from each of the six area councils.
“Our target is to mobilise at least 50,000 votes in each area council. When you put that together across the six area councils, you are looking at a minimum of 300,000 votes for the APC in the FCT.
“This is the target we are working towards, and we believe that with the structures we are putting in place, we can achieve it,” Ngbako said.
The projected figure represents FAYPAC’s mobilisation target and has not been independently verified as an electoral forecast. The 23-member steering committee is scheduled for inauguration this week in Abuja.
Ngbako said the inauguration would mark the beginning of a wider mobilisation process, with subsequent inauguration of the organisation’s structures at the area council and ward levels.
He added that the immediate priority was to build a sustainable grassroots network capable of engaging young people and coordinating their political participation across the FCT.
“Our focus is to ensure that young people are not left out of the political process. We want to build a structure that will enable them to participate actively and contribute to the political future of the FCT,” he stated.
