The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened a seven-day verification exercise for registered voters in Gombe State to check, correct or challenge information contained in the preliminary voters’ register ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exercise, scheduled for Friday, October 9, to Thursday, October 15, 2026, will be conducted across all 114 Registration Areas in the state, including weekends, from 9am to 3pm daily.
INEC said the exercise is being conducted in line with Section 19(1) of the Electoral Act 2026 and urged registered voters to visit their respective Registration Area Centres to confirm that their names and other details have been correctly captured.
According to the commission, voters who discover errors in their information or whose names have been omitted from the register can submit claims for correction or inclusion using the prescribed forms.
Members of the public can also object to the inclusion of any person they believe is not eligible to vote, including non-Nigerian citizens, persons below 18 years, individuals who do not live, work or originate from the Registration Area, deceased persons or those legally incapacitated from voting.
INEC said the participation of voters is essential to ensuring that the preliminary register accurately reflects eligible voters ahead of the 2027 elections.

The commission also announced that Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) that are ready will be available for collection during the exercise.
It clarified that the PVCs currently available are for persons who registered as new voters during the first phase of the Continuous Voter Registration conducted between August 25 and December 10, 2025, as well as those who transferred, replaced or updated their voter registration during the same period.
PVCs for persons who registered, transferred, replaced or updated their records in 2026 are not yet available.
INEC, however, assured the affected voters that printing of their PVCs is already underway and that the cards would be made available before the 2027 general elections.
The commission urged eligible voters to use the seven-day window to verify their details and make any necessary claims or objections within the stipulated period.
