Several political associates and former allies of immediate past Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai, have returned to the All Progressives Congress and declared support for incumbent Governor Uba Sani ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Those reportedly joining the Uba Sani camp include Bashir Saidu, El-Rufai’s former Chief of Staff, and Abdu Kwari, a former Kaduna commissioner and senator.
Also returning to the APC fold are Nasir Abdullahi Maikano, former Kaduna State chairman of the Social Democratic Party and a three-term member of the state House of Assembly, and Moukhtar Isa Hazo, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly.
The development comes as political alignments continue to take shape in Kaduna ahead of the 2027 elections, with the return of the former El-Rufai associates potentially strengthening Sani’s position within the ruling party.
The politicians had, at different times, operated within El-Rufai’s political camp before moving to support the incumbent governor, making their latest alignment significant as the state’s political camps begin positioning for the next election.
A former Kaduna commissioner, Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, confirmed the movement and said the politicians had decided to move together with the group.
“It’s true, we are going together with them,” he said.
The latest movement adds another layer to the political realignment in Kaduna, where politicians and supporters are increasingly taking positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
