Former Minister of Education and former governor of Ebonyi State, Sen. Sam Egwu, 2027 senatorial candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Ebonyi Central zone, Professor Bernard Odoh, and his Ebonyi South counterpart, Chief Linus Okorie, yesterday, assured victory for the presidential candidate of the NDC, Peter Obi, in Ebonyi State.
Egwu, Odoh, and Okorie gave the assurance in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, during a town hall meeting attended by Obi.
Addressing the mammoth crowd during the meeting, Egwu, who represented Ebonyi North in the Senate, described Obi as a credible candidate with track record. He told Obi that Ebonyi State is totally for him in the general election and assured him of overwhelming victory in the general election.
“Your Excellency, our incoming President, Ebonyi State is NDC and NDC is Ebonyi. Forget what any other person is telling you. You have seen it with your eyes today.
“I want to believe that the new Nigeria we have been looking for is here with us. It is not by man’s effort, it is God that has destined it that way, and no power, no force can stop it.
“You can see the mammoth crowd here, and the multiple of those who are in their homes, are all talking about the Obi-Kwankwoso ticket, the redeemers of this country. NDC is a party that has come to rescue Nigeria”, Egwu said.
He urged NDC supporters to galvanise support for Obi and protect their votes during the presidential election.
“We will deliver that day. We vote for Obi, stay, and announce the results. After announcing the results, we shall follow the result to the various centres until the final result is announced”, he said.
On his part, Chairman, Planning Committee of the town hall meeting and Ebonyi Central Senatorial candidate of the party, Professor Bernard Odoh, vowed that members of the party will defend their votes for Obi and ensured that it is declared.
“We will all vote for our dear presidential candidate, His Excellency, Peter Obi. We will follow the result to wherever it is going until it is declared”, he vowed.
Also speaking, Ebonyi South Senatorial candidate of the party, Chief Linus Okorie, described Obi as able and capable leader who will rescue the country. He assured that the members will deliver the NDC presidential candidate in the state.
