• Igariwey, Kama, Ani scale consensus hurdles

Former Senate President and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim, has boasted that stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State will deliver the party in all the positions in next year’s general elections.
Anyim said he was confident that the party would sweep the positions.
He stated this in Abakaliki, the state capital, at a press briefing on the outcome of the consultative meeting of APC stakeholders on the forthcoming primaries of the party.
He said the stakeholders of the party have reached consensus on all the elective positions and resolved that none of the National Assembly positions would be contested except the incumbents.
“We have been able to resolve all the issues and the implication is that there is no constituency in Ebonyi State that is going to be contested.
“We have reached consensus on all the elective offices. This is to say, we know in some states, the consensus arrangements may not work but Ebonyi has become a sample and example.

“The people of the state will be completely mobilized because they are part of the consensus and the general election will be a lot easier for us to win.
“I am confident and I want to assure His Excellency the Governor that the people will stand with him and we will deliver the APC candidates in all the elections in Ebonyi State come 2027,” he said.
Anyim urged Governor Francis Nwifuru to sustain his governance strategy which aligns with global democratic ideals.
Governor Francis Nwifuru had convened enlarged stakeholders consultative meetings across all senatorial districts of the state. This was billed to unanimously adopt candidates that will get various tickets of the party for the legislative seats at the federal and state levels.
During the meeting, some constituencies were stepped down given inability to reach a consensus.
However, the consensus was reached on the constituencies by the stakeholders at the weekend during another meeting over the APC tickets for the 2027 general election.
Some constituencies that were ratified for the consensus during the stakeholders consultative meeting at the weekend include, Abakaliki/Izzi federal constituency where Hon. Emmanuel Uguru is representing Afikpo/Edda federal constituency which has Hon. Iduma Igariwey as representative, Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo federal constituency being represented by Hon. Nkemkanma Kama and Ebonyi South senatorial zone which has Professor Anthony Ani as the representative.
