…Says we must flush out stooges to defeat APC
From Uchenna Inya, Abakaliki
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi State has inaugurated transition committee to pilot the affairs of the party ahead of its congresses for the 2027 general election.
The leaders of the party in the state said, ADC has been hijacked by stooges which they alleged were planted by the All Progressives Congress(APC) to cripple the party before next general election.
2023 Young Peoples Party(YPP), Dr. Sunday Opoke, who is the state party leader, accused the APC-led government in the state of planting its officials in the party as leaders which he described as unacceptable.
He said the situation has created much confusion in the party and made it very difficult for people to ADC which led to the inauguration of the transition committee to sanitize the party ahead of the general election.
“Why we are here is that we have discovered a kind of crafty arrangement where government craftly crafted their team to hijack ADC.
“If you go to a local government and call ADC, somebody who is SA or a PA to a Commissioner or Director in a ministry of the present government, will come out and say I am the Chairman of ADC.
“We begin to wonder, where are we heading from here? This confusion created, made a lot of people not to embrace this party .
“The confusion made a lot of people who are willing to rescue Nigeria to have a kind of thought , are we not going to have another confusion because PDP created a lot of confusion?
“This ADC, people are already wondering, if we continue mixing like this, allow people who are working for government, people who are holding government contract, people who are holding government positions and posing themselves as leaders of ADC, where are we heading to? This is absolutely wrong and unacceptable.

“Because, we don’t want to be in this confusion, we decided to sound the message and sound it very clear that this is ADC that is undiluted, this is ADC that is uncompromised. If you are here to compromise, if you are here to be a stooge, the system will eject you”, Opoke stated.
Opoke maintained that Nigeria is almost at the verge of collapse, as “everything we used to know that is functional in the country has been eroded. Today, if you are in a government school, you are regarded as you are not going to school. But in our time, if you are in a private school, you are regarded as you are not going to school.
” Today, there is no functional health system. Today, poverty is the order of the day. Today, we are under kleptocratic governance. Nigerians cannot continue sleep and watch this nation fall into the ocean. That is why great Nigerians rose in answer that Nigeria cannot collapse.
‘Governance is consolidated on security and welfare of the people. Unfortunately, people are massacred unchecked and unabated. People die like fowls. There is no security in Nigeria. Nigerians no longer meet up with three square meals. Nigerians are bleeding and they are waiting and asking, where and when shall we come out of this condition. But there is hope”, he said
Chief Ogbonnia Oko Enyim, former Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area who inaugurated the Committee, said the decision was taken to ensure that party was reclaimed from hijackers and described the committee as a product of courage, conviction, and commitment to a due process.
“The mandate is very clear and explicit. The mandate is to restore order, strengthen the structures of the party across the 13 Local Government Areas of the State. It is expected that the Inaugurated committee will prepare the party for a credible congress and electoral victory come 2027.
“Let it be known that the ADC will not be hijacked, weakened, or reduced to a mere platform for any ambitious politician. We stand for internal democracy, unity, discipline, and leadership. To the members of this committee, history has placed responsibility on your shoulders. Defend us. Build a structure that reflects the true will of our members and the aspirations of the people.
The Chairman, ADC Movement Ebonyi State, Barr. Solomon Adum urged members not to be scared of any intimidation, harassment and brutality coming from the ruling party adding that the party will use every legal means to stop any form of intimidation of it’s members.
He called for cooperation and commitment as Nigerians are looking into the party to rescue the country from hunger, insecurity, economic hardship and other forms of bad governance.
Members of the transition committee included; retried soldiers, former PDP, APGA, LP, YPP, LP and NNPP leaders.
