…PDP Dominance Still Intact, No One Left – Party Declares
From Abel Leonard, Lafia
The Nasarawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that those recently defecting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) no longer command any significant political influence in the state, stressing that their departure poses no threat to the party’s structure or dominance.
In a statement released on Monday and signed by Alhaji Hamza Ibrahim, the Public Relations Officer to the PDP State Chairman, the party dismissed the relevance of the ADC coalition, describing it as “a gathering of expired political actors whose time has long passed.”
“At their current ages, ranging from the 70s to 80s, those spearheading the coalition have outlived their political usefulness,” the statement read. “They no longer have the capacity to influence electoral outcomes at any level. Their defection is of no consequence to the PDP in Nasarawa State.”
The PDP further accused the defectors of riding on past glories that hold no ground in the present political reality of the state. The party urged the media and general public to critically assess the political strength of the individuals by reviewing their performance in the 2023 general elections.
“We challenge them to publish the results of their polling units, wards, and LGAs during the last elections. Records from INEC clearly show that a former minister, who was part of the Atiku Abubakar campaign, managed to secure only seven votes at his polling unit. Another former senator couldn’t deliver either his unit or his ward. In Karu LGA, a serving minister lost woefully in his own district,” the statement said.

The PDP noted that while it had previously tolerated acts of indiscipline and anti-party activities from the now-defected members out of respect for their age and past service, the party had no regrets about their departure.
“They dragged the party to court, lost at the Appeal Court, and shamelessly left. Their exit is being celebrated by our loyal members. We are not losing sleep over anyone. In fact, no one is left,” the statement asserted.
Reaffirming its strength, the party maintained that it remains the most organised and widely accepted political structure in Nasarawa State.
“Our ranks are swelling with fresh members across the 13 LGAs. The thunderous vote of confidence passed on the PDP leadership at all levels confirms that the people are solidly behind us,” the party added.
The PDP concluded by encouraging its supporters to remain focused and united, assuring that no distraction from defectors would affect its trajectory towards 2027.
“We urge our supporters to ignore the noise and stay focused. The so-called ADC coalition is dead on arrival. The PDP is intact, and Nasarawa remains our stronghold,” the statement concluded.
