The Cross River State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned the public to disregard individuals parading themselves as PDP candidates for the 2027 general election.

The party said in a public disclaimer that the names of its duly nominated candidates had already been uploaded to the INEC portal in line with the Electoral Act.

State secretary, Joe Bisong said any person claiming to be a PDP candidate whose name does not appear on the official INEC portal should be treated as an impostor.

“The party will report any such individual to the appropriate security agencies for investigation and any further action permitted by law,” he stated.

Bisong accused a group parading itself as the ‘Turaki faction’ of circulating false and misleading information about the party’s candidates.

He stressed that anyone falsely presenting him or herself as a PDP candidate or representative without the authorisation of the party does not represent the party in any capacity.

The party urged members of the public to verify all information at its state secretariat located along Mary Slessor Avenue, Calabar.

“The PDP is a responsible and law-abiding political party. We urge members of the public to disregard any unauthorised statements or claims,” the statement added.
