The immediate-past National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Samson Ajasa Adeyemi, has been appointed as Chairman of the Student Affairs Committee of the Ogun State All Progressives Congress Campaign Council for the 2027 election.

The appointment was unveiled by Chairman of Ogun State APC, Chief Yemi Sanusi over the weekend.

Adeyemi, who is also General Secretary of the CityBoy Movement in Ogun State, is a respected student leader, youth activist and meticulous mobiliser who is well loved within the organised student movement across the nation.

He is an alumnus of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye.

Meanwhile, the national leadership of NANS has hailed Adeyemi’s appointment and vowed to rally behind him in his new responsibility.

In a Sunday statement signed by its Secretary General, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman, the apex students body described the appointment as well-deserved.

NANS particularly appreciated the Ogun APC and its gubernatorial candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) for “recognising competence, experience and capacity by choosing one of our own for this strategic responsibility”.

“This appointment is not only a recognition of Comr. Ajasa’s leadership credentials but also a testament to the growing relevance of the students constituency in the political architecture of Ogun State,” the statement reads in part.

NANS said it considered the appointment a significant victory for the student community and an opportunity to further strengthen meaningful student participation and representation in governance and democratic processes.

“We are confident that Comr. Adeyemi Samson Ajasa possesses the requisite capacity, experience, grassroots reach and leadership dexterity to effectively deliver on this mandate and provide purposeful engagement for the students constituency.

“NANS National Headquarters hereby assures him of our solidarity and support.

“We shall galvanise our campuses, student leaders, and stakeholders across Ogun State to rally behind this new responsibility and contribute meaningfully to its success,” the statement further reads.
