Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has shared his views on the political prospects of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and African Action Congress (AAC) leader Omoyele Sowore ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking in an interview with Symfoni TV, Bwala said Sowore enjoys greater national recognition and public support than Makinde.
He also argued that the political landscape does not favour Makinde’s presidential ambition, expressing the view that the Oyo State governor would face significant challenges in seeking the nation’s highest office.
Bwala further maintained that the 2027 election would be shaped by several political factors, adding that both politicians would need broad national support to mount a successful presidential campaign.
He said: “Makinde is inconsequential in any calculations, if you look at the metrix, data, and numbers, which equation brings him close?

“Makinde may not even win the presidential election in his state not to talk of anywhere else. Makinde has not gone to any part of Nigeria, he has not nominated the vice presidential candidate.
“Makinde never had a strong political history where he interacted with the rest of Nigerians, Makinde has been confined only to Oyo State, he’s not even known that much in Lagos not to talk of Southwest Nigeria.
“If you want to be president of the country, it’s important that you are relevant around the country, you have partnerships, and collaboration. This is what we use as anybody can wake from his bed and want to be president.
“Sowore wants to be president, he is more pronounced, more known in Nigeria than Makinde.
“There is no part of Nigeria you will go to that people will not say that they like Sowore, but even in this election, he is inconsequential.”
