Kenneth Okonkwo, spokesman for African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has described the former vice president as the leader other candidates are following in national discourse.
Okonkwo made the assertion in a post on X on Friday, recalling Atiku’s role in the country’s economic team during his tenure as vice president between 1999 and 2007.
He claimed that Atiku helped build Nigeria’s strongest economy during the period, adding that the former vice president’s policies reflected his commitment to the welfare of Nigerians.
He said: “Atiku is now the clear leader whom other candidates are following in every important national discourse. As the head of the economic team, between 1999 and 2007, and as the VP of Nigeria, he built the strongest economy so far for Nigeria. They paid subsidy and paid off our international debt.”

The veteran Nollywood actor assured that Atiku will restore fuel subsidy if elected President.
“Atiku is humane and humble. His promise to bring back subsidy is a reflection of his policy of putting people and their welfare first.
“Let us join hands and elect this great patriot into office come 16 January 2027 for the security and welfare of all Nigerians,” he added.
