From Felix Ikem, Nsukka

Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, Amb. Ejike Eze, has said the party will sweep polls in the South East during the 2027 general elections.

The former aide to President Olusegun Obasanjo on Protocols and Security said this yesterday at his Echara/Isi-Agu political ward in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State, shortly after registering to revalidate his memberships in the ongoing APC e-registration exercise while speaking with newsmen.

He commended Governor Peter Mbah for aligning Enugu State with President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the ruling party at the centre.

The APC chieftain expressed confidence that the APC which currently controls three out of the five South East states, would sweep the polls in South East during the 2027 general elections

He explained that APC in South East has become more viable and acceptable, adding that the defection of Gov Mbah and former PDP members to APC in Enugu State on October 14, 2025, has added value and opened a new chapter for the party in South East.

“It’s a thing of joy for me to see how happy our people are now embracing APC and registering en masse as members of the party.

“South East people now enjoy a complete sense of belonging in all federal appointments and empowerments in President Tinubu’s present administration.

“Governor Mbah who has done very well in Enugu State, as an intelligent politician played smart politics by connecting the state to the centre in October last year.

“With the way things are going in the South East, APC will win Abia State in 2027 general elections as well as win all elective positions in the South East,” he said.

Eze, a retired career diplomat and the senatorial candidate of APC in Enugu North senatorial district in the 2023 general election, expressed special appreciation to Governor Mbah for his superlative performance in Enugu State.

The party chieftain commended the Chairman of Igbo-Eze South LGA, Mr Ferdinand Ukwueze for his effective leadership in the council and quality support of Gov Mbah’s administration.

He assured the participants that the registration process is free, simple, and transparent, urging them to disregard misinformation and encourage their family members, friends, and supporters to take part in the exercise.

Ukwueze the Igboeze-South LG Council Chairman and Vice-chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in Enugu State who witnessed Amb. Eze’s membership revalidation applauded his continued support and loyalty to the party at all times.

The chairman also commended the people of Echara/Isi-Agu ward for turning out in their numbers for the party’s membership e-registration exercise,  assuring them that his administration would continue to deliver all campaign promises to the people.

Mr Ejike Amedo, APC acting chairman in Igbo-Eze South LG said that the administrations of Gov. Mbah and Ugwueze are determined to turn around the fortune of the people through people-oriented governance.

He commended the people for coming out en masse and urged them to ensure they all register with the APC the ruling party in order to continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Mr Obiora  Aleke, a party stakeholder commended Gov Mbah and other stakeholders in Enugu State for connecting the state to the centre.

Mrs Christiana Ugwuoma, chairman of  Echara/Isi-Agu APC ward assured that stakeholders in the ward would continue to mobilise and sensitise people to ensure that all residents of the ward registered in the ongoing APC e-registration.
