• Plan mega rally November

From Romanus Ugwu, Abuja

The re-election of President Bola Tinubu during next year’s presidential election has received a major boost as the All Progressives Congress (APC) youths, promised to mobilise 10 million votes during the poll.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, yesterday, the APC youths also disclosed that arrangements are already at an advanced stage to organise a mega rally in November this year geared towards mobilising the youths for the presidential election.

Operating under the auspices of Youth on Ground Progressive and Mentorship Initiative (YOG), the Founder/National Coordinator, Obioma Nwuba, tagged the youths as a structured, values-driven movement built on the conviction that Nigeria’s youth constitute the largest demographic bloc in Nigeria.

Nwuba said the group was already building a grassroots network across the six geopolitical zones and would use the platform to mobilise young people in support of Tinubu’s administration and his bid for a second term.

The group appealed to the Presidency and members of the APC Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) to recognise and partner with YOG as a grassroots delivery platform for the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Hope cannot be renewed from Abuja alone. It must be delivered in Abuja, Awka, and Owo. It must be felt in the farms in Jalingo and the workshops in Benin,” the group said.

YOG urged the Federal Government and APC governors to partner with the initiative, arguing that grassroots mobilisation would be critical to translating government policies into tangible benefits for citizens.

“President, you have given us the vision. Give us the vehicle. YOG is that vehicle, tested, structured, and already on the ground,” the group said.

It added that electoral victory in 2027 would require more than manifestos, stressing the importance of organised grassroots mobilisation.

“You cannot win 2027 with manifestos alone. You win it with grassroots mobilisation. Ten million organised youths are ten million votes, ten million voices and 10 million defenders of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” it said.

The group also appealed to APC governors to engage young people in initiatives aimed at improving food security, employment and peace across the states.

“Governors, we are not asking for handouts. We are offering you foot soldiers for food security, for peace, and for jobs in your states. Partner with us, and let us turn policy into plates of food and internally generated revenue,” YOG said.

Announcing its planned November mega rally, the group said the event would serve as a platform for young Nigerians to formally declare their support for Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.

“We stand in support of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and we stand equally in support of his 2027 second-term aspiration, because continuity of purposeful leadership is what this moment demands,” the group said.

YOG called on young Nigerians in the diaspora and across wards, local government areas and states to participate in the planned mobilisation.

The group said the November 2026 event would be its “10 million Youths on Ground mega rally” and would feature a youth declaration ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Defending its target, YOG said Nigeria’s youthful population represented a major electoral and developmental force that could either strengthen or undermine the country’s future, depending on how it was organised and engaged.

“Nigeria’s median age sits below eighteen years. This demographic is either our greatest asset or our greatest risk,” the group said.

It argued that 10 million young people united around mentorship, structure and a shared purpose could contribute to democratic stability and economic development.

YOG said it was deliberately expanding its network across all six geopolitical zones as part of its broader mobilisation strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.
