From Ola Muhammad, Birnin Kebbi
The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Mr Salihu Maikasuwa Dangoje, has vowed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would defeat Senator Garba Musa Maidoki of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2027 general elections.
Dangoje stated this in Zuru while speaking with journalists during a visit by Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, who toured several villages to assess their security situation amid attacks by bandits.
The Speaker, who analysed factors he believed would contribute to the ADC’s defeat in Kebbi South Senatorial District, said there was no political party in the zone stronger than the APC.
He said the ruling party would defeat Maidoki, who currently represents Kebbi South Senatorial District in the Senate, with more than 95 per cent of the votes from the electorate in Yauri and Zuru emirates, which constitute the senatorial district.
He cited the Koko-Mahuta-Dabai Road, which had been abandoned for many years before being completed by the Idris administration, among other projects undertaken in the zone.
“If we are still alive till that time, Sakaba Local Government will vote massively for APC, between 80 and 90 per cent. We are going to win the election.

“The chances of APC in Kebbi South Senatorial District are very bright, and I want to assure you that APC will win by 95 per cent. Let me tell you that those candidates contesting for election will withdraw from the election,” he said.
The Speaker noted that members of opposition parties were defecting to the APC in Kebbi South Senatorial District because of the projects being executed in the area by Governor Nasir Idris’s administration.
Similarly, the APC’s senatorial candidate for Kebbi South in the 2027 general elections, retired General Jafaru Gejere, said the people of the zone fully supported the APC because of the governor’s projects, which he said had directly improved their lives.
Gejere said the APC was confident that the electorate would vote for all the ruling party’s candidates in the state, thereby defeating Maidoki.
Gejere said the large number of people from Zuru Emirate who trooped out to welcome Governor Idris showed that the electorate appreciated the governor’s efforts to extend the dividends of democracy to the people of the zone.
He disclosed that Governor Idris had concluded plans to establish military bases in Kaoje, Yauri, Danko-Wasagu and other areas facing insecurity, stressing that the governor’s actions showed he had the interests of the people at heart.
