Labour Party (LP) candidate for Bende Federal Constituency of Abia State, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has secured a wave of high-profile endorsements capable of boosting his campaign.

The entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Caades Group, is challenging the incumbent House of Representatives member and Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu.

Campaigning under the slogan “O GA DIKA OLUEBUBE,” Anyaso has reportedly gathered strong momentum through grassroots consultations and cross-party engagements.

A major milestone, it was gathered, occurred when the elders and youth of his ancestral home, Umu Oringwo Kindred of Ibina Ukwu, Igbere, formally adopted and blessed his candidacy.

In his response, an emotional Anyaso described the home endorsement as the greatest honour of his political journey.

Expanding his reach, he also consulted with prominent figures in the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, Chairman of the National Park Service Governing Board, who commended his long-standing humanitarian work in Bende and offered his blessings.

To consolidate his party base, Anyaso visited a former state lawmaker, Chukwudi Apugo, urging him to join the LP and support Governor Alex Otti’s transformative administration.

Responding, Apugo criticised the Abia APC leadership, stating he was sidelined and vowed not to support any APC National Assembly candidate in 2027.

Also, a chieftain of LP,, Prof. ACB Agbazuere similarly urged Apugo to cross over.

Further boosting Anyaso’s bid, Ugochukwu Nwankwo, a former Personal Assistant to Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, resigned from his post to avoid a conflict of interest and publicly declared his support for Anyaso.

Political analysts have also viewed the growing coalition, which followed an extensive cross-party stakeholders’ meeting in Igbere, as a major shift that places Anyaso’s campaign on solid footing for one of Abia State’s most closely watched legislative contests.
