Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has issued a stark warning to ambitious politicians across the country, asserting that any candidate serious about winning must align with the ruling party or face certain defeat.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE NEWS, Basiru dismissed the various emerging political coalitions and alliances, describing them as “political distractions” rather than credible alternatives capable of challenging the ruling party.
According to him, the APC remains the ultimate electoral juggernaut in Nigeria’s modern political landscape.
“APC remains the strongest political machinery for winning elections in Nigeria today,” Basiru stated confidently. “Many of the groups calling themselves coalitions are yet to prove themselves as credible electoral forces, and for now, they appear more like political distractions than serious alternatives.”

The APC National Secretary emphasized that the party’s deeply rooted structures across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory make it an unbeatable force for any politician seeking executive or legislative office in 2027.
He suggested that political newcomers and seasoned politicians alike who choose to operate outside the APC umbrella are significantly diminishing their chances of success.
Basiru’s remarks come amidst ongoing talks within opposition circles regarding potential mergers and mega-party coalitions aimed at unseating the ruling party. However, the APC scribe maintained that these groupings lack the institutional weight, grassroots spread, and organizational discipline required to tip the political scales.
With the 2027 electoral cycle steadily drawing closer, Basiru’s comments signal a confident and aggressive posture from the APC leadership, setting a clear tone for the political battle ahead.
