Stakeholders in Accord Party has reiterated their support for Dr Gbenga Olawepo Hashim as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The stakeholders, at a press briefing, charged the Accord leadership to immediately upload Hashim’s name on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal for the 2027 polls.

A chieftain of the party from Benue State, Light Adoko, who spoke on behalf of the stakeholders, on the aegies of Accord Alliance Movement, said Hashim was validly nominated as the party’s presidential candidate, in a nomination exercise, held nationwide.

However, he explained that few days later, the party leadership declared that the opposition party does not have candidate for the 2027 presidential contest.

According to him, “This is an assault on democracy and democratic process. We believe that a fearful establishment is trying to weaponize party machinery to deny our sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, Dr Gbenga Hashim, the presidential ticket he deserves and rightfully should be his.

“This is not about failing to satisfy the electoral or party guidelines as stated earlier by the leadership of the party, but a deliberate coup against justice, fairness and good conscience.”

Adoko added”We are here today to unequivocally reaffirm the unalloyed support of this great movement for Dr. Gbenga Hashim as the presidential candidate of our great party, Accord.”
