The presidential candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, will re-enact his 2023 feat by winning the FCT in the next general election, his staunch supporter, Isaac Fayose, has said.
Fayose tipped Obi to record victory in the nation’s capital during a Tuesday appearance on News Central TV.
As presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in 2023, Obi won the FCT with 281,717 votes, while his closest challenger, Bola Tinubu, secured 90,902 votes.
However, Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike recently declared that President Tinubu would win easily in Rivers State and the FCT in 2027.
Despite the former Rivers governor’s confidence, Fayose said Obi would win in the FCT.
“Abuja is NDC, Abuja is Peter Obi,” the social commentator and businessman declared.
He said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) might attempt to “write results” but warned that they would resist any election rigging attempt.
He asserted that there is widespread dissatisfaction with the APC in the FCT.
“People are ready to vote. All we are scared of now is what angle are they going to suppress us from this time? This is the only area we are trying to fine-tune.
“Go to the street and try to talk to one or two people. Ask them, ‘Who are you going to vote for?’
“Abroad, before the proper election, they seek people’s opinions on who they want to vote for through mock elections. We don’t do that in Nigeria, but we need to start doing it,” he said.
