The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has declared that the people of Abia North Senatorial District will reward the performance of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu with his re-election in 2027.
In a statement jointly signed by its President-General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Okey Nwaoru, the group, which described itself as the apex socio-political youth body in the South-East, said its position followed an extensive tour and assessment of the district.
“The people of Abia North are grateful, conscientious and politically sophisticated people. We shall appreciatively and resoundingly re-elect His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu come 2027,” the group stated.
COSEYL dismissed criticism of the Senator, describing it as “orchestrated calumny and infantile machinations of political scavengers who have no footprint in Abia North but parade themselves on social media, dreaming that our people will abandon gold for stone.”
The group said Kalu had redefined political representation in the district, citing road construction and rehabilitation as some of his major achievements.
“Where his predecessors gave excuses, Senator Kalu gave roads. From Arochukwu to Bende, from Isuikwuato to Ohafia and Umunneochi, his signature road projects dot every ward. Over 100 rural and urban roads have been constructed, reconstructed and rehabilitated,” the statement said.

The youth organisation also credited Kalu with building and renovating more than 100 classroom blocks, equipping schools and providing educational materials to thousands of students.
It further claimed that more than 10,000 youths, women, farmers and entrepreneurs had benefited from empowerment programmes implemented through his foundation and constituency interventions.
“At the National Assembly, he is not a bench-warmer. He is a ranking Senator, a statesman of national reckoning, whose voice resonates for Ndigbo and for a united Nigeria,” COSEYL said.
The coalition described Kalu’s re-election as “a fait accompli”, adding that it was “not a contest; it is a coronation of performance.”
“We, the youths of the South-East, the conscience of the region and the vanguard of progressive politics, declare our total and unalloyed support for the continuity of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu come 2027,” the statement added.
COSEYL called on sons and daughters of Abia North, both at home and in the diaspora, to close ranks and support Kalu’s re-election, saying, “Abia North has seen the light and will not return to darkness.”
