From Romanus Ugwu, Abuja
Over 15 governorship candidates on the platform of Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) have declared readiness to work for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu during next year’s presidential election.
Describing Tinubu as the best presidential candidate for the poll, the Chairman of DLA governorship candidates forum, Aboki Bayonga, from Taraba state, hinged their decision on the excuse that their party allegedly has no presidential candidate for next year’s election.
Other members of the forum include; the Secretary, Adamu Idrisu Chado from Kaduna state, Bekky Folorunso James, from Osun State, Prof Valdya Tame from Adamawa, Hon. Sam Umar from Plateau state, Alhaji Sani Mohammed from Gombe state, Hon. Nnamdi Ugwu from Enugu State, Hon. Brent Micheal from Bauchi state among others.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja on Friday, the forum’s chairman said: “As governorship candidates of DLA, we are here to declaring our support for President Tinubu as our presidential candidate in 2027. It is not that we have dropped our aspirations under our own platform, but as for the presidential, we are for Asiwaju 100 per cent. We will work for President Tinubu to come back. We will do everything possible to make sure that Asiwaju is back 2027,” he said.
Justifying their actions, and declaring to actualise their ambition on the platform of Arewa for Asuwaju, Bayonga, said: “There are so many reasons for our decision, but time will not permit us to mention them, but if I can mention a few, like the NELFUND that place our children, whether you pay their school fees or not, they depend on themselves.”
“In terms of agriculture, recently, trailers of fertilizers were moving around the country, and they have r diced the price of fertilizer to N50,000. It helped the farmers, especially those at the rural area.
“Again, in terms of road construction, you can see what the president is doing concerning road networks. He is making solid roads that will stand the test of time in many years to come. Those roads will still be permanent.
“So, with some of these achievements, we are giving assurance to Nigerians that the president is going to be back in 2027. We have looked at all the presidential candidates, and concluded that you cannot leave opposition to join opposition. You will not succeed. “Therefore, looking at all of them, we compare them and find out that the incumbent has a lot of things that if given another four years, will achieve them, and Nigeria will be better,” he said.
