2026 World Cup Qualifier: Super Eagles tackle Benin at ‘lucky’ AFCON stadium

The Super Eagles will take on Benin in a fourth round match of the 2026 World Cup qualifying series at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, where they enjoyed a fine run at the recent AFCON.

Super Eagles beat Guinea Bissau, Angola and Cameroon at the former Ivorian national stadium to go all the way to the championship final in February.

Benin has been ordered to play its home games of the World Cup qualifiers after their stadiums were ruled sub-standard.

Benin is bottom of Group C with a point from two matches after a goalless draw in Lesotho.

Nigeria is third on two points, same as Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

The match has been tentatively fixed for June 9, two days after the Super Eagles have hosted South Africa in Uyo.
