2026 World Cup Qualifier: South Africa releases preliminary squad for clash against Super Eagles

World Cup

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has unveiled his provisional squad for next month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

South Africa will open their campaign against neighbours Lesotho on Friday, September 5, before locking horns with the Super Eagles four days later on Tuesday, September 9.

The eagerly awaited tie against long-time rivals Nigeria will be staged on home soil, giving Bafana Bafana the advantage.

However, before that encounter, Broos men will visit Lesotho though the fixture will still be played at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, as Likuena lack a CAF-approved venue.

Among the fresh faces handed a chance to impress are Darren Johnson, Bradley Cross, Zuko Mdunyelwa, Puso Dithejane, Kamogelo Sebelebele, Siphesihle Mkhize, and Gape Moralo.
