After taking the Bafana Bafana of South Africa to the African top in the 2023 African Cup of Nations, Coach Hugo Broos is already thinking of reaching the 2026 World Cup at the expense of Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

South Africa lost to the Super Eagles in the semi-final of the AFCON but was able to pick the bronze medal.

Both teams will clash again in the match day 3 of the World Cup qualifier and Broos is already banking on the newly invited players to edge the 3-time African champions.

“We have some new players, younger players with us. I hope that maybe they can show me that I can count on them for the next months, for the qualifiers for the World Cup and Afcon, and that maybe little by little, we can put those players on the team.

“That’s what we want to do in the next few months, besides to qualify for Afcon and World Cup”, he said.
