Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has urged Nigerians to appreciate and support Eric Chelle’s team as they prepare to face Benin Republic in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Uyo on Tuesday.
According to Troost-Ekong, everyone must take responsibility because Nigeria’s game against Benin Republic cannot be won solely by the coach or Super Eagles players.
The former Watford defender also urged his teammates to step up against the Benin Republic.
Nigeria heads to the game following a 2-1 win against Lesotho last Friday.

“It is a very difficult job if you describe that to anyone, understanding the emotion and pressure,” Troost-Ekong said at his pre-match press conference on Monday.
“This is not a game that I, the coach, or the players can win for us. We need to have a shared responsibility; everyone has to step up.
“And of course, playing in the stadium, I would love to see it full. I hope that tomorrow everyone will appreciate that and support the team.”
