2026 WCQ: Super Eagles reflection of Nigerian govt – Rapper Illbliss
By Rita Okoye
Nigerian rapper Illbliss has sparked a firestorm of comments after comparing the dismal performance of the national football team, the Super Eagles, to the performance of the country’s government.
Following the team’s disappointing 2-1 loss to Benin in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Monday, Illbliss, whose real name is Tobechukwu Ejiofor, took to his X account to express his frustration.
In a scathing post, he wrote: “The Super Eagles is a reflection of the government. Lethargic. Inconsistent. Confused…”
His comments echoed the growing discontent amongst Nigerian fans after the team’s poor start to the qualifiers.
Nigeria currently sits at the bottom of Group C with only 3 points from three matches.
Illbliss’s words resonated with many Nigerians who see parallels between the team’s lackluster performance and the perceived shortcomings of the government. Social media has been abuzz with reactions, with many using the hashtag #SuperEaglesMirror to express their views.
This controversy adds another layer of pressure to the Super Eagles as they fight to salvage their World Cup qualification hopes.
