2026 WCQ: Eguavoen speaks on Super Eagles vs Bafana Bafana clash

Augustine Eguavoen, technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has declared that the Super Eagles cannot afford to lose to the South African team Bafana Bafana.

The Super Eagles, who beat Rwanda’s Amavubi 1-0 in Uyo last Saturday, trail South Africa by six points in Group C.

Another victory over Bafana Bafana will reduce South Africa’s lead to three and put Eric Chelle’s team in a solid position to qualify for the global football tournament.

Eguavoen reckoned they have respect for South Africa but the Super Eagles will strive to beat their hosts.

“Of course it’s a massive game, we have no choice, Nigeria has no choice. We respect South Africa, but we are gunning for three points, simple as that,” Eguavoen was quoted by FARPOST.

Tuesday’s encounter, slated for the Toyota Stadium, Bloemfontein, will kick off at 6 pm local time (5 pm Nigerian time).
