Hugo Broos, South Africa’s head coach, has claimed that if they win Nigeria next week, they will be able to confirm their qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
Bafana Bafana are now in a strong position to secure their qualification after defeating Lesotho 3-0 on Friday.
The result means they now have 16 points, nine more than the Super Eagles, who host Rwanda on Saturday.
South Africa could confirm qualification for next year’s tournament with a win against Eric Chelle’s men.

But Broos’ men would need both Benin Republic and Rwanda to drop points.
“If God is with us, then we can maybe qualify for the World Cup by next Tuesday, and that stays as the target for us,” Broos told reporters.
“We are in a good situation, we have everything in our own hands, so it’s up to us to now finish it.”
